Rooms were very large and nice, comfy beds. If you are maybe into the golf course and “Las Vegas, USA” theme vacation this is probably up your alley, just not my family. Be very careful of the “Free breakfast buffet” which unfortunately I think my family got sick from - envision super large with 100s people, food was good but just be selective of food choices that could carry viruses. Either set up a self serve station or make readily available for staff to provide.

Why did the hostess seat us then? Breakfast, we waited 30 minutes and 5 tries for one cup of coffee. We had no drinks, no utensils and no other standard table amenities for 20 minutes at dinner in the big room. Like others, I believe management attention to dinner/breakfast service is needed. Waited 20 minutes for shuttle that is supposed to take you to other parts of Sun City, ended up walking because the line was very long and wanted to get to somewhere.

If you are SA local, I would expect a lot more. Similar to other comments about “not a 5 star” hotel. Only downside and it’s a small one is that it takes too long to get a lift at busy times!!! Concierge was also super helpful with transfers and bookings and all our asks. We came to transition from being on safari in Botswana and Madikwe Game Reserve before going back to Joburg and it was the perfect stepping stone!! Great comfortable stay. Water park was great even though it’s winter so the water was a cool 16 degrees but a fun day and plenty of relaxing by the pool. Great to have options to eat at Cascades and Sun City hotel where we had lovely sushi at Lilys. Are in the Grill Room which was tasty and very friendly service. Food was excellent especially the breakfast which is amazing. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable - aircon in the lounge didn’t work brilliantly but the sun coming in from dual aspects made it quite warm. Booked a Junior suite for us and our teenager and was spacious, comfortable and had great rear views of the Pilansburg range. Third trip to Sun City and second stay at the Palace and it didn’t disappoint.
